Beta vulgaris

Originally bred from the Early Blood Turnip Beet in Ontario, Canada, and then introduced in 1892 by Dexter Ferry & Company. This beet is excellent for canning, pickling and has phenomenal storage life. It is sweet, smooth and the tops are great for salads or a spinach substitute but the root is the real winner here. These can germinate as low as 5 degrees Celsius and withstand the summer heat better than most. One of our favorites and best sellers.
Growing Directions
Sow seeds 1/2″ deep , 4″ apart, as soon as soil can be worked in early spring. Sow a second crop every 2 weeks for a full season harvest.Benefits from compost amended soil.
